1. This piece is filled with prominent symbols from the Martin Luther “I have a dream” speech to the San Francisco earthquake incident were used to really emphasize the since of nostalgia through out the piece.

2. The spot I really connected with was the continuous mentioning’s of September 11^th, mostly because of my age when the event occurred, much the same as the young adults in the short story, I didn’t know how to “feel” about the disaster. Because I hadn’t yet figured out how to express my feelings, or even know what they were at the time.

3. I would actually find it quite interesting to adapt this into a motion design piece. Using a mixture of 2D and 3D graphics, as well as synced audio, to represent the emotion and thought that was placed into the original writings. I also would probably add a voice over of someone reading out the passages and sync up 3D kinetic typography to emphasize specific sections. 

The Auteur Theory - Mike Leigh

"The Auteur Theory"

            There were many aspects of the films that coincided with each other; you could easily tell they were from the same director. I made sure not to do too much reading on the director before I watched his movies so I had a fresh perspective towards his films.  Through out his films you could easily connect the aspect of a “Day in the life” type feeling, we follow these characters through their lives and through a lingering conflict that may or may not be resolved in the end. I also noticed how well he used the “natural” like dialogue. It made you feel like these people were living their lives and we just so happen to be watching, just outside, not really included, just floating and watching it take place. 

            From beginning to end of all three films you could notice the use of silence to create that uneasy feeling between characters just a second longer to add that since of “something isn’t right”.  His pull of the characters relationship with each other is quite interesting, you actually feel as if this is the first time they’re meeting and this is how they actually built there relationship.

            The connection of similarity went as far as the characters personalities were corresponding.  More so with the secondary characters rather than the main roles filler characters he had on a list so he can take them and fill the empty space. Someone that doesn’t say much, but, helps move thing along in the story.  I really enjoyed watching and analyzing the movies trying to determine the similarities between the three films, with the particular films I chose it wasn’t that hard to spot the relationship between them. 

            After watching all three movies and writing down what I thought of them I researched the director. What I read coincided with what I, myself, had determined in the beginning but the added knowledge of his use of improve and how he starts with the basic ideas of what he wants and gives it to the actors and lets them develop their own personal connections and relationships. And how he even allowed the actors reference ideas and intimate moments that had happened in the previous improvisation sessions.  His use of character development really infuses interest into his movies that really draws you into the films.

            

Vertigo- Screenplay Adaptation into Comic.

 For this assignment we had to pick a screenplay, preferably one from a movie we hadn't seen yet, and adapt it into a 1-2 page comic book. I chose Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo" opening sequence. 

Shakespeare Adaptation Act II, Scene 3.

A modernized adaptation of a scene from Shakespeare's "Much Ado about nothing" Act II, Scene 3 where Benedick talks about never falling in love.  

The Dewbreaker- (The Book of the Dead)

I believe my personal opinion was imposed more on the first short story than any other, for an example: the daughter finds out her father wasn’t who he said he was, so what, was he good to you? Did he raise you? Did he give you the love you deserved? Yes! How can you freak out like that when you know who your dad is now? My father had a shady past, he’s told me about it and I don’t look at him any different. He’s my father, I would treat him the same because I know who he’s been while being my father. I could never just turn completely on my father. The way she reacted made me angry, she just turned herself off towards him.  She cared more about her sculpture then she did her father confessing his past to her. At least that was what it seemed like to me.  I couldn’t read through without stopping and wondering why was this happening? I would get lost in her story, and not in the good way, there was no flow to the stories overall.  I could tell you I didn’t have a really good time reading these stories, I do look forward to the upcoming material in hopes that it is better than the previous stories.
